Arechiga Farm Goat Sales Policy
By placing a deposit or purchasing a goat from Arechiga Farm (“Seller”), Buyer acknowledges and agrees to the following terms.
1. Reservations & Deposits
- Doelings & Intact Bucklings: $100 non-refundable deposit required.
- Wethers (pet boys): $50 non-refundable deposit required.
- Adult goats: 50% non-refundable deposit required to hold for up to 2 weeks.
All deposits are applied to the purchase price and are non-refundable unless Seller cancels the sale. Deposits are non-transferable between goats unless agreed in writing.
2. Pricing & Payment
- Prices listed on the reservation list may change after kidding. A deposit locks in the quoted price.
- Full payment is due within 7 days of notification that a reserved kid is available, unless prior arrangements are approved.
- Accepted payment methods: Cash, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal. Buyer must cover any applicable transaction fees unless using “Friends & Family.”
- Purchases not paid in full on time will be considered void, deposits forfeited, and the kid resold.
3. Pickup, Boarding & Transportation
- Most kids are ready for new homes at 8–10 weeks (earlier bottle babies at 3–6 weeks if approved).
- Goats must be picked up by the agreed-upon date.
- Boarding is free until 10 weeks. After 10 weeks, a $3/day boarding fee for kids or $5/day for adults applies unless alternate arrangements are made in writing.
- Buyer is responsible for arranging all transportation.
- If multiple kids are purchased from different breedings, Seller will consider—but does not guarantee—holding until all kids are ready to travel together.
4. Health & Veterinary Care
- Arechiga Farm is a clean-tested herd. We test annually for CAE, CL, and Johne’s disease.
- Pregnant does receive CDT vaccine 4 weeks before kidding. Buyers are responsible for booster CDT doses at 8 and 11 weeks of age.
- Kids are disbudded, tattooed, and up to date on shots before leaving. Wethers may not be tattooed or registered.
- Seller guarantees goats are healthy to the best of our knowledge at pickup. Once an animal leaves our property, all responsibility transfers to Buyer.
- No guarantee is made on height, future health, fertility, growth, production, or show success.
- If a proven genetic defect is confirmed by veterinary documentation (e.g., sterility, extra teats), Seller will provide a replacement kid from the current or next kidding season.
5. Registration & Classification of Animals
Breeding Stock vs. Pet Stock
- Goats sold as breeding stock (doelings and intact bucklings) are intended for show, performance, and herd development. They will be registered with ADGA, tattooed, and transferred into Buyer’s name at Seller’s expense.
- Goats sold as pet stock (wethers) are intended as companions. They will not be registered with ADGA, may not be tattooed, and are sold for companionship only.
Registration Details
- All breeding stock from Arechiga Farm are registered with the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA).
- At Seller’s expense, breeding stock kids will be:
- Tattooed before leaving.
- Registered with ADGA and transferred into Buyer’s name.
- Sent home with a stamped duplicate certificate at pickup, with official registration papers mailed to Buyer once processed by ADGA.
- Registration with other associations is the Buyer’s responsibility.
- Seller reserves the right to name registered kids in accordance with herd naming themes, though Buyer may request input within those guidelines.
6. Buyer Responsibilities
- Goats are herd animals. Seller will not sell a single goat to homes without goats, unless Buyer purchases more than one.
- Buyer is responsible for securing appropriate transportation and veterinary care after purchase.
7. Seller’s Rights
- Arechiga Farm reserves the right to retain any kid from any breeding before fulfilling reservations. Final decisions are typically made by 6 weeks of age.
- Arechiga Farm reserves the right to refuse any sale at any time, for any reason.
- Seller reserves the right to 30 straws of semen at cost from any buck sold intact.
8. Legal Terms
- Once a goat leaves Arechiga Farm, Seller is not responsible for its health, care, or wellbeing.
- This policy constitutes the full agreement between Buyer and Seller.
- Any disputes will be resolved exclusively under the laws of California in California courts.
By placing a deposit or purchasing a goat, Buyer agrees to all terms in this Sales Policy.
